Cole: the CGM has made life better for our son

Cole was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 17 months old, at the beginning of his diagnosis we only did finger pricks and at 17 months old he was not to happy with us doing that, so when we went to CGM it was life changing for him and us.

Always having his blood readings right there took so much worry away, and when he started Kindergarten it also eased the worry for his teacher’s.

He is now 6 years old and thriving but in the last few weeks he had a few accidents where he knocked out his CGM, two in 3 days and with his next lot not due, we have had to go back to finger pricks, his poor fingers and toes are covered prick marks.

It has made us realise the CGM has made life better for our son, and no doubt if CGM’s could be founded it would be beneficial for many other parents/people having to live with diabetes in New Zealand.
