t:slim X2™ Insulin Pump funding announcement.
PHARMAC has announced its decision to fully fund the Tandem t:slim X2™ insulin pump and consumables for eligible patients. This is an exciting time for NZ customers who have been waiting for this new technology to be available here.
Animas has advised its intention to completely exit from the insulin pump space by the end of September 2019. This means that no support, consumable or replacement products for the Animas Vibe insulin pump will be available after that time. NZMS Diabetes is not exiting the market place and is fully committed to diabetes and our customers and will be offering all customers whose Animas Vibe warranty expires on or after 1st October 2019 a Tandem t:slim X2, at no charge, in exchange for their Animas Vibe and will be provided with full training on how to use the new technology.
Customers have been separated into two groups:
To ensure we comply with our warranty obligations, customers whose Animas Vibe warranty expires on or after 1st October 2019 will be entitled to a replacement t:slim X2™
Customers whose warranty expires on or prior to 30th September 2019 will be able to purchase a pump or receive a funded pump if they meet the eligibility criteria.
This transition phase and training will occur throughout the rest of 2018 through to the end of September 2019. NZMS Diabetes has developed a detailed project plan to ensure the safe transition of customers to the new t:slim X2 which has been agreed to by PHARMAC.
