Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth is here to help young people with type 1 diabetes, and their families, to live brave every day. Through our Live Brave Mana Ora programmes and services, which are designed to deliver Confidence (Whakamanawa), Inspiration (Whakaohooho) and Independence (Motuhaketanga), we provide support, education, activities and opportunities to build connections.

Support for Youth and Families
Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth provides support for youth with type 1 diabetes and their families from the Top of the South Island (Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough and the West Coast).
We can provide you and your family with support, information, and non-clinical advice, as well as connect you with other families living with type 1 diabetes. We are here for every stage of your diabetes journey.
Youth Family Events, Teen Events and Family Camp:
Through our annual calendar of social events, education sessions, fundraising activities and a family camp, we provide various opportunities to meet with others and share experiences. Being part of Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth helps whanau to build a strong support network. We welcome you to join us at any time.

Havelock Health and Wellbeing Expo, October 2022
Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth were invited to the Havelock Health and Wellbeing Expo 2022 by the Havelock Lions Club. This was a great day for this small rural community to be able to obtain excellent information from several health providers in the area. Our visitors were able to take a ‘Know your Risk’ checklist with our Branch Coordinator, and Diabetes NZ pamphlets were available to take home full of important information. The popular ‘Sugar in Drinks’ display was an effective reminder to all to be mindful of the choices being made. Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth welcome the opportunity to take part in further days like this to continue to share information with our Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough communities.
