Rotorua Update July 2023

We are pleased to advise that a new base for Diabetes NZ Waiariki has been secured.  The new premises are at the business hub, located centrally in Rotorua.  It is a shared space with other parties and Diabetes NZ will have its own dedicated office. There are multiple meeting rooms available for use as required on a booking basis.

The decision to move premises was due to the current lease being due for renewal.   This provided us with the opportunity to reduce the office overheads which were becoming unsustainable.   Waiariki is not the only area where a lease has been terminated.  It is part of our strategic objective to move away from standalone premises and invest our funding into direct services.

We know this decision may be difficult for those locally and we acknowledge the community’s efforts over the years towards the building’s upgrades and the time spent here.  While this decision may feel like a loss for the local diabetes community, we see this as an exciting opportunity to partner with other local organisations that will enable us to collaboratively deliver services and better direct resources to connect within the community, which is at the heart of the work we do together at Diabetes NZ.

We look forward to continuing to work with the Waiariki diabetes community to ensure that our services remain both effective and accessible.

The transition from the old premises will commence on 1 July with the intention to be fully installed in the new premises by 1 September 2023.
