Janae : life as we all know is such a roller coaster!

Our daughter Janae was diagnosed nearly 4 years ago, when she was 11.

She had been doing fantastic at school, she was in the zone finals for cross country, she was in the speech finals for her age group at school. Life was going good for her, but she had been drinking copious amounts of water, eating copious amounts of food but loosing weight, going to the toilet loads and I knew that there was something just not right.

I made a Doctor’s appointment for after school one day, but before I did, something was telling me to search up Type 1 on the internet, so I did.

After the Doctor appointment blood tests where sent straight up to the laboratory, half an hour later we were in the car for a 2 hour drive to Whangarei hospital where we stayed for a week.

Since then, life as we all know is such a roller coaster!

She finger pricked for nearly 2 years, then we went onto Libre, then a pump then finally for the last few months we have started Dexcom G5 and that is a game changer. We have signed up to the Dexcom, financially it's hard but we just have to make it work.

We are only a one income family. My wonderful husband works so hard, huge hours just so she can have this, in turn we miss out on a lot of time with him!

Our dream for all those with Type 1 is for EVERYTHING to be FREE!
