Murray: Type 1 diabetes for 45 years
I've had Type 1 diabetes for 45 years. I have had my Libre system for about 6 months. It has made a huge difference to my management.
I was doing 4-5 fingerpricks a day. If I was eating out I had to take my lancing device & strips to test before my meal, which involved finding a private place to do my test as well.
Now I carry the reader in my shirt pocket and one swipe of it over the sensor gives me instant readings. Less chance of getting caught out if my meal delayed, not to mention a huge saving in cost of strips.
I do random checks of sensor readings against my dual blood glucose meter whenever I get an unexpected reading. These checks give me confidence in the Libre readings.
