Ann: I was shocked that in the past 3 months I have used 562 test strips

I was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic in 1999 after being ill for some time.

During the following years I’ve struggled to keep my HBA1C within reasonable levels.

Since diagnosis I have suffered a stroke and have largely recovered from this through determination and a structured exercise regime.

Additionally, I have diabetic retinopathy which is treated monthly with bilateral eye injections.

A CGM meter would be a godsend for me and would help with the daily grind of testing and trying to keep my levels within guidelines.

Not being able to afford this meter is very frustrating and I strongly believe it’s very important that the CGMs are fully funded for ALL of our population that have Type 1 and 2 diabetes.

I was shocked that in the past 3 months I have used 562 test strips.

This figure has really surpassed what I would have expected.
